Young Volunteers

Like the Young Leaders programme run in the past, this course is designed to introduce U18s to coaching, officiating and what the behind-the-scenes of running a club look like.

Course Contents

The course will consist of three modules, all of which will be covered on the same day:

1. Activator Training (2 hours)

This module is similar to the All Stars and Dynamos Face-to-Face Activator Training course. Participants will learn about the STEP framework and how to manage a group of children before having a go at delivering a cricket activity themselves. This section of the course will set participants up well to assist in the delivery of All Stars and Dynamos programmes at their club.

2. Running a Club (30 minutes)

In this interactive session, we discuss what goes into running a cricket club, including the function of the committee and the essential volunteer roles. The aim is to give participants an appreciation for the volunteer effort that happens behind the scenes at cricket clubs.

3. Young Officials (2 hours)

This module covers both scoring and umpiring. Participants will learn all the signals, methods of dismissal and about the umpire's role in game management. They will also learn how to score on the Play-Cricket scoring app.

Participants will leave with a certificate upon successful competition of the day’s activity.

Juniors are still welcome to attend activator training aimed at adult volunteers for All Stars and Dynamos, as we have promoted in the past, however, this course will cover much more ground giving participants a greater understanding of club cricket.
